As I run my fingers through her soft, silky hair splayed across chest, the sound of a car pulling into the driveway pulls us from our content little bubble of happiness.

“My mom’s home!” Mila says with startled eyes, popping up from the bed.

Her mom has been dating some guy she’s really into, so Mila and I planned to meet up at her house while she was out on a date. She’s been coming home really late, so it was the perfect opportunity to finally fulfill my promise to Mila.

She’s mine now. Every inch of her perfect body and soul is officially mine and I just might be the luckiest asshole on the planet right now. Unless of course, we get caught, in which case I’ll be a dead asshole.

I jump up, getting dressed in record speed as Mila does the same, giggling as she stumbles into some pj’s. As soon as she’s done, I pull her into my arms and kiss her hard and fast.

“I love you, Sweets.”

“I love you too, K.” She says with a happy flush.

“See you at the party tomorrow, Beautiful.” I rush out of her bedroom window, falling on my ass in the dirt. She laughs at me as she closes it behind me with a whispered goodbye. I wait until I hear the front door close from outside and then I run like hell to get my ass out of sight. I sprint across the street toward my house with a smile that I can’t contain.

Tonight, was fucking incredible. Mila is it for me. If I didn’t know it before - although let’s be honest, I did – I am absolutely positive now.

I know me going off to the Marines is going to be hard, but if anyone could make it, it’s us. We have been through so much together and now, there is nothing unsaid or undone between us.

I take a deep breath, praying my dad is passed out already as I peel open the door to sneak inside.

“Where the fuck have you been?”

Dammit.

“Nowhere, just hanging out with friends.” I lie, but he sees straight through me.

“Bullshit. You been with that girl again.” He practically spits.

I refuse to confirm or deny it, not interested in hearing him shit-talk about the girl I love. He just hates the fact that I have found someone that makes me happy when he’s so fucking miserable.

“Heard her Mama is marrying some rich asshole across town.” He says with a sinister smile, as if he is privy to some vital piece of information.

I just shrug and try to make my way to my room around him. He steps in my way and pins me with a look I am getting sick of having to endure anymore. Just a couple more months and I’m out of this fucking house and he can live in misery on his own. I’m so tired of being his goddamn punching bag when he can’t handle life.
